Meet Camilla Speirs
At just 25 years of age, Camilla Speirs has already achieved more than many professional event riders achieve in their entire careers. The result of 25 years of talent and hard work, Camilla’s incredible list of achievements to date includes 6 European championships, 2 World Equestrian Games and an Olympic Games debut in 2012 when she was just 22 years old.
Camilla learnt to ride before she could even walk and she was already riding around her parents Niall and Bridget’s farm in Burtown, Co. Kildare by the time she was one year old. The tricks of the trade were learnt out hunting on cold mornings with her mom and dad and competing in Pony Club events and local gymkhanas where, from the tender age of 4, she made it her business to win at every opportunity! Local shows soon took a back seat to international competition and Camilla made her championship debut at the European Junior Eventing Championships at the age of 16. And she has not looked back since.
Based on the family farm where the well-known eventing prefix ‘BT’ originates, Camilla has a wonderfully thought out structure and set-up. She is extremely talented, hardworking and dedicated to succeeding in all of her goals and has all the attributes a rider needs to reach the very top of the sport of eventing.
Camilla has a great passion for sourcing and producing young, talented horses. She produced the indomitable Portersize Just a Jiff (or just Jiff to all at home) – from a young horse and their journey has been one that fairy tales are made of – from juniors, through young riders and on to European Championships and an Olympic Games. Here the wonderful team that Camilla has behind her becomes evident and it is well known that her mother, Bridget has a great eye for sourcing young and untested horses. Her current success stories include BT Crewmaster, BT Border Bandit and BT Cloud Nine.
With Camilla’s enviable list of achievements and experience, it’s easy to forget that she is still only 25 years of age! We’re so excited to have her join the HorsePlay stable of bloggers and looking forward to putting her ideas and advice into action…we’re also really hoping that some of her sparkle rubs off on us!
Camilla is available to coach and train riders of all levels and across all the eventing disciplines – dressage, showjumping and cross-country. She has a wonderful teaching style and brings flair and fun to everything she does. If you would like to contact Camilla for training you can email her or call her on 087 7597579
