Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge has passed away suddenly

It was with terrible sadness that I heard late yesterday of the untimely death of Niall Connolly, the man behind the wonderful venue of Ravensdale Lodge, just outside Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Niall was a true gentleman, dedicated to his family, his friends and the thousands of competitors and trail riders that were fortunate enough to pass through Ravensdale’s gates each year.

As a frequent visitor to Ravensdale Lodge, I got to know Niall over the years and he always welcomed us with a smile and a bit of craic. He worked tirelessly to develop Ravensdale into the premier facility it is today and he approached every event with enthusiasm and every competitor with support and encouragement.

Niall is survived by his wife Dolores (nee Swan), children Jason, Eve and Rosalyn, mother Joan, sister Verona, brothers Martin, David, Patrick and Kevin, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Our thoughts are with them all.

He will be reposing at his home in Ravensdale from 2pm until 9pm on Thursday and Friday. Removal on Saturday morning to St Mary’s Church, Ravensdale, arriving for Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Calvary Cemetery

RIP Niall, we will miss you.
